“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”
-Carl Rogers, 1961
Sarah Penny, M. Couns., Registered Psychotherapist
I have been working in the field of psychotherapy for over a decade providing support to youth and adults around various issues. I graduated from the University of Calgary with my Master of Counselling degree. Since graduating I have worked in a university mental health clinic supporting young adults, a children’s mental health agency, and in a psychological clinic focusing on trauma and rehabilitation. I now enjoy running my own private practice, focusing on individual therapy and clinical supervision.
I have a special interest in working with anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and issues around parenting (pregnancy and postpartum mental health).
My personal approach to therapy is to create a warm, client-centered, safe and caring space for you to share and process your emotions. I am trained in a number of different clinical approaches, and we will decide together how to best support your needs.
My Credentials and Trainings:
I like to refer to myself as a perpetual learner, as I believe strongly in education and ongoing training, particularly for therapists who have a responsibility to uphold best practices for their clients. I love learning about new therapeutic approaches, and strengthening my existing skills. This list will surely continue to grow!
